Recession Concerns: Is it a Good Time to Start an Online Business?

I received this question in my email this morning:
I enjoy your talk show so much! It’s so inspiring. With all this recession symptoms going around, do you think there’s a right time to start a business? Or it doesn’t matter? I’m from San Diego, CA.
She’s referring to Work at Home Moms Talk Radio and I love getting feedback on the show! Our guests and contributing hosts ARE inspiring and I’m so pleased to be able to present them to my listeners.
To respond to her question, I have two answers.
Answer One:
If you’re considering launching a business around the topic of work at home or internet marketing - from my experience and from reading what other leaders with long standing experience share, recessions do not appear to take a bite out of profits in these areas.
When folks are being laid off or being handed pay cuts and overtime limit slips, they start looking for other ways to pay the bills and that leads them straight to those who have home business and other entrepreneurial information and services to offer.
So it seems that the tighter the economy gets - the more likely people are to invest into learning about making money through alternative measures.
Answer Two:
If you’re considering launching a business that sells a product or provides a personal service - the recession may certainly have an impact on your success.
But - that shouldn’t immediately scare you off. In a tight economy, small business owners often have an upper hand IF they will do a lot of market research and maneuver fast to meet the needs of those who do have money to spend.
By the way, we have some very good starter resources about doing market research in our Learning Center. When you grab your MM membership you’ll be able to access them.
So, what do you think? What tips, advice or resources would you point this person to? Leave a comment!

Why We’re Only Charging $24.97 Now

It’s not everyday that you see a great product’s price drop is it? It’s certainly unusual these days to see any prices actually going down.
We’re actually pretty excited about being able to charge less for monthly access to our private forum, mentoring and learning resources and there are two main changes here at MM that have made it possible.
First, the Graduate Program is now closed.
Every new member will be paying for access to the site for as long as they want to. Since there’s no end to the member fee - we felt it was very appropriate to lower the cost.
Second, while we do maintain a sizable ‘evergreen’ learning library with hundreds of hours of learning resources - we are embracing a new monthly learning resource format.
This new format delivers a great audio, video or print learning product to our members at the beginning of each month as always, but then at the end of the month, the product is permanently removed. For our members, this will create a higher sense of urgency to dig into the monthly learning resource and we’re all for that!
We will selectively repackage some of these product for resale outside of MM and will have an ‘ala cart’ menu for new members who want to access resources that were retired before they joined us.
As always, it’s hard to really describe what MM is all about - you have to experience it for yourself. And with our new lower price - it’s an easier decision than ever before.
